Eva Ayllón reaches for the Latin Grammy! Peru legend nominated once again

Eva Ayllón has been nominated for a 2026 Latin Grammy for "Concierto De Gala." The decision will be made on November 12 in Las Vegas.

Eva Ayllón is once again taking to the great international stage. The Peruvian singer has been nominated for the 2026 Latin Grammy Awards. With her live album "Concierto De Gala," she is competing against four other productions in the "Best Folk Album" category. The decision will be made on November 12 in Las Vegas.

For Peruvian Música Criolla, this nomination is far more than just another award for a well-known singer. With her album, Eva Ayllón brings music from Peru into a category where the diverse musical traditions of Latin America converge.

The Latin Recording Academy officially lists "Concierto De Gala (Desde El Gran Teatro Nacional) (Versión Eva) [Live]" among the five nominees for Best Folk Album. For Ayllón, this is already her 13th nomination at the Latin Grammy Awards.

19 Songs from the Gran Teatro Nacional

The nominated album is not an ordinary studio production. "Concierto De Gala" documents a live performance from the Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima and includes 19 tracks from Eva Ayllón's repertoire.

The underlying concerts took place on March 7 and 8, 2025. The concept also revisited an earlier milestone in her career: Ayllón had already presented a "Concierto de Gala" back in 1992. More than three decades later, the idea for the new production was revived.

The focus is on musical forms of expression with which Ayllón has been associated for decades. These include, in particular, Peruvian Música Criolla and Afro-Peruvian music.

Eva Ayllón against four strong competitors

In the "Mejor Álbum Folclórico" category, five productions are on the official nomination list. Alongside Eva Ayllón, nominees include Yamandu Costa, Alexis Cárdenas, and Ensemble Recoveco with "La Quinta Esencia," Lila Downs with "Cambias Mi Mundo," Milo J with "La Vida Era Más Corta," and Julieta Rada with "Candombe (En Vivo, Teatro Solís)."

This means Peruvian music will be pitted against very different musical traditions from Latin America. The winner of the Latin Grammy will be decided by the voting members of the Latin Recording Academy. The final round of voting runs from October 1 to 12, 2026.

"Our Peruvian music" returns to the Latin Grammys

Eva Ayllón reacted immediately to the announcement of the nomination. For her, it was not only about personal recognition, but also the international presence of Peruvian music.

The singer can look back on an exceptionally long career. In 2019, she received the Award for Musical Excellence from the Latin Recording Academy. The award honored her artistic career and her contribution to Latin American music.

Peru is represented multiple times at the 2026 Latin Grammys

Eva Ayllón is not the only connection between Peru and the 2026 Latin Grammy Awards. Other Peruvian artists and musicians also appear on this year's nomination list. Among them are Nic and Fabián, the children of Peruvian singer Gian Marco, as well as the musician and composer Federico Tarazona.

Before the Grammy gala, Ayllón goes on tour

After two sold-out performances at Plaza Norte, she will return to a stage in Lima on October 2 and 3, 2026, with "Con guitarra y cajón." The venue is the Centro de Convenciones Bianca in Barranco. The program leads through various areas of Música Criolla and includes, among other things, valses and festejos.

Shortly thereafter, Ayllón will leave Peru. Beginning October 9, a tour through the United States begins together with Daniela Darcourt. A total of 15 performances are scheduled until November 1.

Decision on November 12 in Las Vegas

On November 12, 2026, it will be announced who receives the Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album. The 27th Latin Grammy Awards will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The nomination once again puts Peruvian Música Criolla and Afro-Peruvian music on one of the most important international platforms for Latin American music. For Eva Ayllón, it is another milestone in a career that now spans several decades.
