Hola, you curious sun worshippers! As true as I am Perusino, I'm here to tell you about the most important boss in the Inca heavens: Inti, the Sun God! Imagine having a giant flashlight that never goes out and keeps everything warm – that's Inti! Without him, the Inca Empire would just be an icy darkness with very grumpy llamas.

☀️ Who was Inti, actually?

Inti was like the king of the heavens for the Incas. He shone in the sky and made sure the fields got enough sunlight for the corn to grow. No corn? Disaster! Then there would have been no chicha (corn beer), no corn cakes, and no grilled corn on the cob. A tragedy!

Every morning he got up, as if someone had woken him with a super loud alarm clock. Then he put on his golden sun robe and marched across the sky, making it day. In the evening, he finished work and went to sleep on the other side of the world. I bet he snuggled into a huge, fluffy cloud bed.

🏛️ Why was Inti so important to the Incas?

The Incas believed that their ruler, the Sapa Inca, was directly descended from Inti. So, like his favorite golden grandson! That's why temples of pure gold were built for the Sun God – because Inti wasn't into wood or straw.The most famous sun event was Inti Raymi, the great Festival of the Sun! There was music, dances, offerings, and probably the best corn cake of the year. It was like a "Happy Birthday, Inti" party with extra sunshine.
