Pachamama – Perusina Explains the Benevolent Earth Mother

Psst! Have you ever wondered who makes sure we have food, that the earth supports us, and that the sun doesn't just say, "I'm bored, I'm outta here"? It's simple – Pachamama! She's the benevolent Earth Mother of the Incas and she watches over all of us. And because I'm Perusina, I'll explain it in a way my brother Perusino understands – with an extra helping of humor, of course!
Perusina - Who exactly is this Pachamama?
Pachamama is kind of like the boss of everything related to earth, nature, and life. Without her, it would be as dry down here as Perusino's cookie when he yells "I don't need a plate!" and forgets it somewhere. She makes sure that corn grows, potatoes thrive, and llama bottoms can wiggle in the wind.

Why did the Incas love Pachamama so much?
Because she's simply the best! The Incas believed she gives us everything we need – but woe betide those who are unkind to her! Then there are earthquakes or bad weather. That's why the Incas often gave her gifts, such as coca leaves, corn beer, or even golden figures. My brother Perusino also wanted to give Pachamama a gift once – unfortunately, he chose his old shoe. Well, some things never change...
How do we thank Pachamama today?
Even today, many people in the Andes honor Pachamama. They celebrate "Día de la Pachamama" on August 1st and give back to the earth a little of what she gives us – food, flowers, or even a sip of beer. My dad does that too, but for him, it's called a "barbecue party."

So, next time you bite into a juicy fruit or see a tree dancing in the wind, remember: that's Pachamama's work! She's like a superhero – but without a cape, and with a whole lot of nature magic. And if you want to honor her, just be kind to the Earth: plant something, don't litter, and, most importantly, never give your brother an old shoe as a gift! Smarter than Perusino: Now you know that Pachamama is Mother Earth and why the Incas revered her. And the best part? You can still thank her today – by showing respect for nature!
