GOLDEN CELEBRATION FOR PERU! 69 MEDALS AT THE SOUTH AMERICAN GAMES

Peru wins gold in squash and rowing, reaching 69 medals at the 2026 South American Games. All results from September 21 to 23.

GOLD CELEBRATION FOR PERUVIAN ATHLETES! As of September 23, the Peruvian delegation has already won 69 medals at the 2026 South American Games in Argentina: 19 gold, 26 silver, and 24 bronze. On Wednesday, two gold medals were added in squash and rowing. In football, however, the dream of reaching the final was shattered shortly before the end.

Following the gold-medal weekend with 56 medals, Team Perú continued its momentum in Santa Fe and Rosario. Between September 21 and 23, further medal events took place in squash, rowing, badminton, track cycling, and karate. Peru also remains in the running for a medal in padel.

DIEGO ELÍAS STRIKES AGAIN!

What a final! Peru's squash star Diego Elías gave Colombia's Matías Knudsen no chance on September 23. He won the final clearly 3-0, with set scores of 11:6, 11:6, and 11:3. With this, Elías secured the 18th gold medal for Peru at these games. The success in Rosario is also part of his preparation for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

PAMELA NOYA BRINGS HOME THE NEXT GOLD!

There was also reason to celebrate on the water. Pamela Noya won the women's coastal single sculls in rowing, securing Peru's 19th gold medal. She finished ahead of Fiorela Rodríguez from Paraguay. Additionally, the Peruvian rowing team picked up three silver medals: Álvaro Torres in the men's single sculls, Pamela Noya and Adriana Sanguinetti in the women's double sculls, and Gerónimo Hamann and Pamela Noya in the mixed double sculls.

FOOTBALL DRAMA SHORTLY BEFORE THE END!

That is how quickly a dream of the final can be shattered! Peru held a 0-0 draw against hosts Argentina for a long time in the semifinal. Only in the 89th minute did Santiago Espíndola score the decisive goal to make it 1-0. Now, the chance for bronze remains. On Friday, September 25, Peru faces Chile. Kick-off is at 8:00 a.m. Peruvian time.

SILVER IN BADMINTON – BRONZE IN KARATE!

In badminton, Peru reached the team final on September 22 but had to settle for silver after a 0-3 loss to Brazil. Reaching the final was rewarded with the silver medal. Argentina took third place.

Further medals came from track cycling and karate. Hugo Ruiz and Robinson Ruiz won bronze in the madison. Ingrid Aranda and José Morales both took third place in the individual kata.

PADEL DOUBLES REACHES THE SEMIFINALS!

Peru also remains in the running in padel. María Paula Torres and Nicole Aragonés reached the semifinals and will face Argentina on September 24. For the two Peruvians, it is a battle for a spot in the final.

69 MEDALS! PERU IS NOT FINISHED YET

With 19 gold, 26 silver, and 24 bronze medals, Peru has a total of 69 medals following the competitions on September 23. For comparison: as of the interim update on September 17, there were only 26 medals. More competitions are scheduled until the end of the games on September 26.

LOOKING AHEAD TO LIMA 2027!

The South American Games serve as an important competition stop for many athletes before the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima. A few days later, the Parapan American Games will follow in the same city. Further events featuring Peruvian participation can be found in the PeruMagazin event calendar.
