Peru is collecting medal after medal at the 2026 South American Games! After five days of competition, the team has reached 30 medals. Seven gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals currently place Peru sixth in the medal table. And the games are far from over.
The XIII Juegos Suramericanos are being held from September 12 to 26, 2026, in the Argentine province of Santa Fe. Events are taking place in cities including Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela. Athletes from 15 South American countries are competing in numerous disciplines. Peru is represented by a large team. Before the games even began, PeruMagazin introduced the 492 athletes of Team Perú.
Peru already at 30 medals
After the conclusion of the fifth day of competition, Peru has collected 30 medals. The tally consists of seven gold medals, nine silver medals, and 14 bronze medals. This currently puts Peru in sixth place in the medal table.
Brazil leads with 117 medals, followed by host nation Argentina with 101 and Colombia with 73. Chile and Venezuela follow behind them, ahead of Peru. PeruMagazin had already summarized the first Peruvian medals.
The sport shooters are delivering!
Peru's premier discipline in Santa Fe so far has been sport shooting. The Peruvian shooters have already won seven medals, three of them gold. One of the greatest successes comes from Nicolás Pacheco. The skeet specialist won gold, securing his fourth consecutive ODESUR title. Pacheco had already won in Santiago de Chile in 2014, Cochabamba in 2018, and Asunción in 2022.
Marko Carrillo is also one of the great Peruvian winners. He took gold in the 10-meter air pistol, scoring 237.7 points in the final. Together with Annia Becerra, Carrillo also won the mixed competition. In total, Peru has so far accumulated three gold and four bronze medals in sport shooting.
Golden sisters on the water
Alessia and Valeria Palacios won the women's lightweight double sculls over 2,000 meters. The two sisters finished in 6:57.15 minutes, securing another gold medal for Peru.
This success holds additional significance with a view toward 2027. The competitions also show where Peru stands athletically ahead of the major international sporting events in Lima.
Peru even wins gold at the console
Luis Suárez won the men's EA Sports FC competition for Peru. Another gold medal was won by Tomaz Centa and Rosalba Rojas Raffo in the mixed pétanque competition.
Seventh gold comes in bowling
The next gold medal followed on September 18. Adrián Tokashiki and Alejandro Ishikawa won the men's doubles bowling competition for Peru. Their success brought Peru's tally to seven gold medals and a total of 30 medals.
The distribution of successes is remarkable. Sport shooting has provided the largest share of gold medals so far, but rowing, bowling, esports, and pétanque are also contributing to the tally. Peru is therefore not dependent on a single successful discipline at these South American Games.
Nine silver medals for Peru
Peruvian silver medalists include Mariana Soriano in foil, María Luisa Doig in épée, Rafaela Fernandini in the 100-meter freestyle, David Bardalez and Shoely Mego in weightlifting, as well as Patricia Pérez in the esports competition.
14 bronze medals
In sport shooting, Daniella Borda, Sara Vizcarra, and the mixed teams Deysi Jilapa and José Ullilen and Alexia Arenas and Diego Morin stood on the podium. In weightlifting, Faviana Gavidia, Miguel Ángel Preciado, and Nadia Vela, among others, took home bronze.

After five days of competition, Brazil leads with 117 medals. Host Argentina follows with 101 medals, and Colombia with 73. Peru is in sixth place with seven gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals.
Eyes are already on Lima 2027
The results from Santa Fe are also important for Peru because the next major goal is already set: Lima 2027. The Pan American Games return to the Peruvian capital in 2027. PeruMagazin lists current dates in the event calendar for Peru.
Peru still has more medal chances
The 30 medals are only an interim tally. The South American Games continue until September 26, 2026. Sport shooting, in particular, is developing into the strongest discipline for the Peruvian team. At the same time, the successes in rowing, bowling, esports, weightlifting, fencing, and swimming show how broad the current results are.
