Peru's Puntos de Cultura have existed for ten years. To mark the anniversary, the Ministry of Culture held the nationwide campaign "La Cultura Nos Une" on September 13, 2026. At the same time, the ministry announced that it would provide greater support to recognized cultural organizations and increase awareness of their work.
The events took place simultaneously in various regions of Peru in squares, parks, and other public areas. Minister of Culture Alberto Beingolea participated in the event in Lima. Other cultural dates in the country are compiled in the PeruMagazin event calendar.
Ten Years of Puntos de Cultura in Peru
The Puntos de Cultura are based on Law No. 30487, which was passed in 2016. Non-profit cultural organizations that continuously work in their communities are recognized.
Projects range from music, dance, and theater to cultural education programs and the preservation of regional traditions and ancestral knowledge. A broader overview of festivals, music, languages, art, and regional traditions is provided on the PeruMagazin page on Peruvian culture.
According to the Ministry of Culture, a total of 788 organizations were registered in the nationwide network of Puntos de Cultura by the end of 2024. In 2024 alone, 79 organizations were added.
Ministry of Culture Funds Projects
In addition to state recognition, there are financial support programs.
For 2026, the Ministry of Culture provided a total of 400,000 soles in the competition for community cultural projects of the Puntos de Cultura.
This allows 20 projects to be supported with up to 20,000 soles each. One prerequisite is the collaboration of several recognized organizations.
The money is earmarked for specific cultural projects and is intended to promote regional cooperation and joint projects in particular.
Peru Announces Further Support
On the tenth anniversary, the Ministry of Culture declared its intention to provide greater support to the Puntos de Cultura in the future and to make their activities more publicly visible.

Thus, the program continues after its anniversary. Organizations can apply for state recognition, participate in funding programs, and develop joint projects with other network members.
What additional measures the ministry will concretely implement after the current announcement has not yet been published in detail.
