Perusino, Perusina and the Secret of Viracocha – A Magical Bedtime Story

The Stranger by the Lake

It was one of those nights when the sky was dotted with stars and the moon loomed over the landscape like half a potato. Perusino and Perusina sat on the shore of a deep blue lake, throwing flat stones into the water.

“You lost!” Perusina cried triumphantly as her stone bounced five times on the water.

"I didn't! I was just waiting for the perfect shot!" Perusino defended himself. But then he suddenly fell silent. "Do you hear that?

"A deep humming filled the air, a low murmur that seemed to come from the other side of the lake. Curious, they crept closer and spotted an old man with long white hair and a cloak that shimmered in the sun. He stood barefoot by the water, drawing strange patterns in the sand with a stick.

“Who are you?” asked Perusina, who was not afraid of old men, even if they looked mysterious.

The man turned slowly, starlight sparkling in his eyes. "I am Viracocha."

Perusino felt his skin prickle with excitement. "The great creator god? The one who created the world out of chaos?

Viracocha nodded slowly. "That's him. And I'm on an important mission. The world order is in danger."

The Lost Map of Creation

Perusina put her hands on her hips. "Why is she in danger? I think everything looks perfectly normal."

Viracocha sighed. "My map, which describes the creation of the world, is missing. Without it, the balance could be upset. I absolutely must get it back!"

"A card?" Perusino rubbed his chin. "What was on it?"

"Everything," Viracocha explained seriously. "The mountains, the rivers, the sun, the moon, even the people and animals. The map contains the power of creation itself."

Perusina whistled through her teeth. "And where did you lose them?"

Viracocha pointed into the distance, to where the mountains touched the clouds. "A gust of wind carried her away. She is said to be in a hidden cave now. But there lies a giant, sleeping snake. And she won't be pleased if we wake her."

The journey into the mountains

Of course, Perusino and Perusina weren't deterred by such a thing. "Let's go!" Perusino shouted, already running.

The journey took them along narrow paths, past roaring waterfalls, and through dense forests. Along the way, they encountered an old llama with shaggy fur, who showed them the fastest route. "Follow the golden light," it advised them, and then disappeared into the thicket with a contented grunt.

When they finally stood in front of the dark cave, Perusina frowned. "I don't like caves. There are always too many spiders."

“I don’t like snakes,” added Perusino.

Viracocha grinned. "Then you must be especially friendly."

The encounter with the snake

They entered slowly. The cave was cool and smelled of damp stone. In the center lay a giant creature with shining scales. Its eyes were closed, but when Perusina accidentally kicked away a pebble, her eyelids twitched.

“Who dares to disturb my sleep?” she hissed in a deep, trembling voice.

Perusina stepped forward. "We don't mean you any harm! We're just looking for a map that's supposed to be in your cave. Perhaps you've seen it?"

The snake raised its enormous head. "A card? Ah... yes. I saw it. It fell from the sky right into my nest. But why should I give it to you?"

Viracocha now stepped forward. "Because she maintains the balance of the world. Without her, mountains could disappear and rivers could stop flowing."

The snake thought for a long time. Then it said, "I'll give it to you. But only if you tell me a story I don't yet know."

The story of the first humans

Perusina sat down on a rock. "Okay, listen. I'll tell you the story of how Viracocha created the first humans."

The snake coiled up and listened attentively.

"Once upon a time, a very, very long time ago, the world was just water and darkness. Viracocha, the great creator, emerged from nothing and began to shape the earth. He made the sun so there would be light, and the moon so the night wouldn't be too dark. Then he formed the first humans from stone."

The snake blinked. "Made of stone?"

"Yes," Perusina nodded. "But they weren't good. They had no joy, no laughter. So Viracocha made them disappear and created new people out of clay. These were better, but not yet perfect. So he taught them how to make fire, how to grow corn, and how to live together. And only then did he leave them alone to continue exploring the world."

The snake was silent for a long time. Then it nodded slowly. "That was a good story. You may take the card."

The return of balance

Perusino quickly grabbed the map. It was golden, decorated with ancient symbols, and when Viracocha touched it, it began to glow.

"You have maintained balance," the god said gently. "You have shown that knowledge and words are more powerful than strength."

Perusina beamed. "We are Perusino and Perusina!"

Viracocha laughed. "And I'm sure this wasn't your last adventure."

With a gentle breeze he disappeared, and the world suddenly felt more harmonious than ever before.
