Origin and Production

The sugar comes from Peru. According to the supplier, fresh sugarcane juice is boiled down in copper kettles and, after hardening, processed by hand into unrefined cane sugar. True Beans describes the cultivation as sustainable and refers to its collaboration with smallholder cooperatives.

Flavor and Use

Panela has a sweet taste with caramel and slightly fruity notes. The unrefined cane sugar is suitable for coffee, tea, desserts, pastries, sauces, and other dishes. Depending on the recipe, it can be used as an alternative to refined household sugar; the flavor and color of the finished dish may change.

Ingredients and Size

Ingredient: 100% unrefined cane sugar (panela). Net weight: 250 g. Unrefined cane sugar is still sugar and should be used in moderation accordingly.
