A week in Lima with friends from Germany

A week in Lima with friends from Germany – arrival, first impressions and the basis for an exciting time

The turn of the year brought a special start to the new year for our group. After weeks in Piura, the move to the Peruvian capital, Lima, was on the agenda at the beginning of January.

The bus traveled south overnight. After many hours of slow-moving coastal landscapes, small towns, desert stretches, and a steady descent into the metropolitan area of Lima The arrival was approaching. Around 11 a.m., the bus reached the Surquillo district, where the Oltursa station is located. Traffic in Lima It immediately revealed itself in all its intensity, but that is precisely what makes the first impression of this metropolis: energy, movement and a clear contrast to Piura.

A taxi then took us to our booked hotel. We stayed at the Nobility Grand Hotel, located at Avenida Angamos Oeste 700 in the Miraflores district. The hotel's location and surroundings immediately made it a winner. Check-in was straightforward, and at first glance, the hotel offered exactly what was needed for a week in Lima: a quiet base in the heart of the modern part of the capital.

After checking in, we embarked on our first stroll through Miraflores. The afternoon offered perfect light, a gentle sea breeze, and ample time to get a feel for the area. Miraflores is one of Lima's most popular districts, and the reasons become clear after just a few steps. Wide streets, well-maintained parks, and numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops characterize the area. The blend of urban structure and proximity to the Pacific Ocean creates an atmosphere that appeals to both international visitors and Peruvians themselves.

A stroll led along side streets, past small boutiques, modern buildings, and typical houses from different eras. Kennedy Park was close enough for a detour, and the square once again demonstrated why it's one of the neighborhood's central meeting places. Street performers, music, city life, and the park's famous cats create a unique atmosphere.
