Product description

Piki – handwoven scarf made from 100% Peruvian alpaca wool

The Piki alpaca scarf by Mama Rosa Alpaka combines an exceptionally soft natural fiber with traditional textile craftsmanship from the Peruvian Andes. Each scarf is woven on a hand-operated loom in Puno and then carefully finished by hand. The result is a classic accessory with a natural sheen, a pleasantly soft surface, and a distinctive origin.

Measuring approximately 170 cm long and 27 cm wide, the Piki can be worn in a variety of ways: draped loosely over the shoulders, wrapped once around the neck, or tied in a simple knot. It pairs as well with a coat as with a plain jacket and is ideal for everyday wear, travel, and cool days outdoors.

Alpaca fiber – naturally soft and warm

Alpaca wool comes from animals that have been raised in the Andes for centuries. The fiber is known for its soft feel and excellent temperature-regulating properties. A scarf made from pure alpaca wool can keep the neck comfortably warm on cool days without the need for a heavy, coarse fabric.

Alpaca is an animal-derived natural fiber, unlike synthetic scarf materials. How warm a scarf feels also depends on the wind, temperature, how it is worn, and individual warmth perception.

Craftsmanship from Puno

The Piki model is woven on a hand loom in Puno, in Peru’s southern highlands. This method of production requires experience and careful yarn handling. The subsequent hand finishing is part of the product’s character. Slight variations in weave structure or dimensions are possible with handmade textiles and are not an indication of industrial mass production.

The three versions at a glance

Ayaviri (red): a bolder color option that makes a deliberate statement with dark jackets and coats.
Juli (purple): a distinctive alternative for anyone looking to pair understated clothing with a unique color.
Macusani (beige): a subtle, versatile option for a classic look.

Care – how to keep the scarf beautiful for longer

Gentle hand washing in warm water at a maximum of 30°C is the preferred cleaning method. Use a suitable wool detergent and gently move the fabric in the water. Avoid vigorous rubbing, wringing, and machine spinning. Carefully press out excess water with a towel, reshape the scarf, and let it dry flat in the air. Do not tumble dry or expose to direct heat. Also follow the care instructions on the delivered product.

Important information

Alpaca fiber contains relatively little lanolin; however, this does not mean it is generally hypoallergenic. If you are known to be sensitive to animal-derived natural fibers, you should consider your individual tolerance. The dimensions are approximate. Colors and texture may vary slightly due to the handmade production and screen display.
