Perusino Was Here: Places, Everyday Life, and Stories from Peru
Perusino tells stories of places, sounds, journeys, food, and small surprises. Peru appears not as it would in a travel catalog, but as a child experiences it.
My name is Perusino
I am seven years old and have traveled with my parents to many places in Peru.
Adults call it a trip. For me, it was everyday life with new sounds, different food, and an astonishing number of journeys.
I don't just remember places because they are famous. I remember them because something happened there. Maybe a market was very loud. Maybe the journey was very long. Maybe there was something to eat afterwards. That usually helps.
Perusino was here
Peru is not presented here as in a brochure, but as a child perceives it.
What does "Perusino Was Here" mean?
"Perusino Was Here" is not a classic travel guide. The series collects impressions of places, restaurants, and everyday situations. Data and background information remain important, but the central question is: How does a place feel?
A shopping center can suddenly be full of metallic shopping cart llamas. A beach in Lima looks different from a tropical vacation brochure. A restaurant stays in your mind because the taste, noise level, and atmosphere fit together.
These details are what make travel vivid. They also help to view Peru not just as a list of famous sights.
Exploring with open eyes
Some places can only be understood when you stand there and don't know where to look first.
Stories from Peru
Various impressions have already been published in the series. Some lead directly to Lima. Others show places with a Peruvian connection outside the country.
The articles are deliberately varied. A shopping center, a beach, or a restaurant each tell a different part of everyday life.

To the overviewWhy Children See Peru Differently
Adults often look for data, names, and dates. Children pay attention to things they can feel immediately.
How long is the journey? Why is the air so thin? Why is everyone talking about a stone? How loud is the market? Is there food afterwards?
These questions are not trivial. They make a place concrete. This is precisely the idea behind Perusino's stories.
Perusino's rule: A place is truly explained only when even a tired child still knows why they were there.
