Peru's female volleyball players are set to begin an important tournament week at the 2026 Campeonato Sudamericano in Rio de Janeiro. National coach Antonio Rizola has nominated 14 players. Peru will be competing for three spots at the 2027 World Championship.
From September 8 to 13, 2026, the Peruvian national volleyball team will face Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Chile at the Maracanãzinho in Rio de Janeiro.

Experience and Young Players in the Peruvian Squad
At 36 years old, Mirian Patiño is one of the most experienced players in the squad. The libero brings many years of experience in top-level Peruvian volleyball and plays an important role in reception and defense.
On the other hand, there are players like Saskya Silvano and Alondra Alarcón, who belong to the younger generation. This combination of experience and youth is important for Antonio Rizola because Peru wants to achieve not only short-term success at the Sudamericano.
In attack, Rizola has several options with Brenda Lobatón, Aixa Vigil, Sandra Ostos, Kiara Montes, Daniela Muñoz, and Alondra Alarcón. Yadhira Anchante and Lucía Magallanes are available for setting. The middle blockers include Claudia Palza, Coraima Gómez, and Saskya Silvano.

Above all, the matches against Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, and Chile could determine whether Peru secures one of the coveted spots for the World Championship.
These Players Are Missing for Peru
The absence of Diana de la Peña is particularly painful. The middle blocker is unavailable for the tournament due to a foot injury. Karla Ortiz and Thaisa Mc Leod are also not part of the final squad.
Other well-known players are also not in the final tournament squad. This means Peru will not be competing with all the players who would generally have been considered for the national team.
