Lima – Canada is getting closer! Air Canada is back in the skies over Peru. Since October 26, 2026, the Canadian airline has resumed direct flights between Lima and the major cities of Toronto and Montreal. But that is just the beginning: from 2027, one of the routes is even planned to be offered year-round. This opens up new possibilities for travelers to Peru!
Four nonstop flights per week to Canada!
The planes are back! With the start of the 2026/2027 winter flight schedule, Air Canada is once again connecting the Peruvian capital directly with two of Canada's most important cities. Twice a week to Toronto, twice to Montreal. This means a total of four direct flights per week are now available.
Modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with 255 seats will be used. The aircraft offer 20 seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy, and 214 in Economy Class. The routes are initially scheduled to run until March 27, 2027.
This is an important signal for Peru! The airline had already resumed its routes in December 2025. Now the next flight season is starting – and Air Canada is already making bigger plans.
The big surprise: Montreal is planned to be served year-round!
Until now, the connection between Lima and Montreal has been seasonal. But that is soon to end! From April 2027, Air Canada plans to serve the route year-round. Three flights per week are planned – always on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
And there is one more change: Instead of the Boeing 787-8, Airbus A330-300s with 297 seats are planned to be used. This means more seats and better accessibility for Peru! This could be particularly interesting for vacationers traveling outside the classic peak seasons.
Why is Air Canada focusing on Peru of all places?
Behind the return lies much more than the hope of sun-seeking vacationers. Peru and Canada are closely linked economically. A free trade agreement has existed between the two countries since 2009. There are particularly intensive business relations in mining, the energy sector, infrastructure development, and agricultural trade.
And these very relations are ensuring full planes! According to Alfredo Babun, Regional Manager at Air Canada, at least 50 percent of the passengers in the Peruvian market are business travelers. The airline also wants to return to previous load factors. On individual routes, more than 90 percent of the seats were once occupied. The business with Peru is expected to pay off again!
New opportunities for vacationers: Via Canada to Peru!
Those who want to travel to Peru will have additional options. Toronto and Montreal are among North America's most important international hubs. From there, numerous connections to Europe, the United States, and other parts of the world are available. This could also make a flight route via Canada interesting for travelers from Germany and other European countries.
But be careful: Not every connection via North America is automatically cheaper or faster. Flight times, layovers, ticket prices, and Canadian entry and transit regulations must be considered. Nevertheless, comparing prices can still be worth it! Additional flight connections mean more choices for international travelers to Peru.

Northern Peru could also benefit!
The new direct flights land in Lima. But for many vacationers, the real journey only begins there! From the capital, numerous destinations in Northern Peru can be reached. And it is precisely there that some of the country's most impressive sights await.
In Trujillo, the massive adobe city of Chan Chan, once the capital of the powerful Chimú Empire, beckons. In Chiclayo, visitors can discover the famous royal tombs of Sipán and the treasures of the Tumbas Reales Museum.
Those who prefer to enjoy sunshine, sand, and sea will find some of the country's most famous beaches in the Piura Department. And Cajamarca impresses with colonial architecture, impressive landscapes, and a turbulent history.
Northern Peru has a lot to offer – and every additional international flight connection can bring new visitors to the country! Air Canada also works with Latam Airlines and Sky through so-called interline agreements. This means that, depending on the booking, connecting flights within Peru can also be combined.
Flight tickets from 322 dollars – but there is a catch!
How expensive will the trip be? For the routes, entry prices from 322 US dollars plus taxes were stated. But this amount is not a guaranteed current ticket price! How much passengers actually have to pay depends on the travel date, booking class, availability, and respective fare conditions.
Those who want to travel to Peru affordably should therefore compare different travel dates and flight routes.
Will there be even more flights soon?
Air Canada apparently does not have enough yet! The airline is closely monitoring how demand between Canada and Peru develops. If the planes are well utilized, additional weekly flights could be offered in the future. However, no further Canadian direct flight destinations from Lima have been announced so far.
Nevertheless, this development is good news for Peru! More international flight connections strengthen the country's accessibility, facilitate business travel, and create additional opportunities for tourism. And with the planned year-round connection to Montreal, Peru could get even closer to Canada from 2027.
The message is clear: Air Canada continues to focus on Peru – and international air traffic is getting a new boost!
