Chile

Chile is a narrow, elongated country on the west coast of South America. It stretches for 4,300 kilometers along the Pacific Ocean and is bordered by the Andes Mountains to the east. The country impresses with diverse landscapes, including deserts, mountains, lakes and coastal regions. The capital Santiago is the economic and cultural center. Chile is known for its wine production, copper reserves and natural beauty such as Torres del Paine National Park. The country's history is marked by indigenous cultures, the colonial period and political upheavals, including the Pinochet dictatorship from 1973 to 1990.
