Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic, is a South American country with a diverse landscape ranging from the Andes in the west to the Atlantic coast in the east. The capital is Buenos Aires. Argentina is known for its rich culture, passionate tango, world-class cattle breeding and wine production. It is the second largest country in South America and has a diverse population with European, indigenous and African influences. The economy is based on agriculture, mining and industry. Argentina has had political turmoil throughout history, but has also experienced cultural heydays and is home to world-famous personalities such as Eva Perón.
