Venezuela is a South American country with a turbulent political history and economic challenges. Characterized by rich oil reserves, the country experienced an economic boom in the 20th century. More recently, however, political instability, corruption and economic mismanagement have led to a serious crisis. Hyperinflation, poverty and social unrest characterize the country.
