Once upon a time in a distant, magical land called Peru, where high mountains touched the sky and thick forests whispered secrets. There lived two brave and curious children, Perusina and Perusino. They had already experienced many adventures, but today a very special one was about to begin.
One sunny morning, when the first birds were singing their songs, Perusina and Perusino decided to find the secret of Cusco. They had heard from their grandmother that Cusco, the city in the mountains, was a magical place. It was said that the Inca gods had once descended to earth there to create a great city.
"Where do we go first?" asked Perusino, looking curiously at his sister. Perusina thought for a moment and said, "Let's follow the path of the sun, like the ancient Incas did."
So the two brave siblings set out on their journey. They wandered through green valleys and crossed babbling rivers until one day they met an old woman sitting on a stone. She had silver hair that sparkled in the sun and her eyes shone like stars. It was Mama Quilla, the moon goddess.
“Where are you going, little adventurers?” asked Mama Quilla in a gentle voice.
“We are looking for the secret of Cusco,” Perusina and Perusino answered in unison.
Mama Quilla smiled and said: "You are on the right path. I will tell you a secret. Cusco was founded by the sons of the sun god Inti. Manco Cápac and his sister Mama Ocllo, who came from the sacred Lake Titicaca, were given the task of founding a city that would be as bright as the sun itself. They were accompanied by a golden staff that they were to stick into the earth where it would sink into the ground. That would be the perfect place."
Perusina and Perusino's eyes widened in amazement. "What happened then?" Perusino asked curiously.
"The two siblings wandered through mountains and valleys until one day they arrived in a valley surrounded by high mountains. There the golden staff sank deep into the earth. And so Cusco was founded, the city that became the heart of the Inca Empire," explained Mama Quilla.
“Is this the secret of Cusco?” asked Perusina, still curious.
"This is the beginning," said Mama Quilla with a mysterious smile. "The true magic of Cusco lies in the people who live there and the stories they pass on through generations. Every stone, every street in Cusco carries a piece of this history."
Perusina and Perusino thanked Mama Quilla and continued on their way. As night fell, they finally reached the holy city of Cusco. The stars sparkled in the sky and the moon shone brightly over the old walls. The two siblings lay down under a large tree and looked up at the sky.
“I think we have found the secret of Cusco,” Perusina said quietly.
“Yes,” Perusino agreed. “It is a place full of wonders and stories that connect us all.”
And so the two fell asleep while the stars watched over Cusco and dreamed of the adventures that lay ahead of them.
