The expensive vinyl hype: How records are blowing our budget
Records are back! Prices are higher than ever and who knew listening to music could ever feel so stylish and expensive?
The vinyl hype has led to more and more record companies remaking records and music lovers appreciate the sonic quality, nostalgic feel and tactile experience of vinyl. But who would want an easy and inexpensive way to listen to music when you can spend your savings and buy a vinyl record instead?
Of course, the process of making records is expensive and time-consuming, but who cares about the high production costs? And who even has the luxury of thinking about money when you can buy a record shelf and use it as home decor instead?
But why should we care about the price of records when instead we can just go to our local record store and see how the record companies deliberately produce limited editions to create artificial scarcity and drive up prices? It's much more entertaining to dream about the beauty of these collectibles while sitting on our average salaries.
Nevertheless, there are some sensible people who offer records at a reasonable price. But who wants reasonable prices when we can instead proudly tell our friends how much we paid for our limited edition?
Overall, the vinyl craze is a great opportunity to express our appreciation for musical heritage. We don't care that it's expensive as long as it makes us a little more trendy and cool. Who needs financial stability when you can clutter your apartment with expensive records and a record shelf instead?
