President of Peru as guest of honor in Stuttgart

The Peruvian President Dina Boluarte was recently a guest in Stuttgart and was welcomed by Stuttgart's mayor Dr. Frank Nopper received a warm welcome. This visit was part of Latin America Day 2023, an event under the patronage of Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann.

Born in Chalhuanca, Apurímac, Boluarte has had an impressive career. She is a lawyer and graduated from the Universidad Particular San Martín de Porres. With over 18 years of professional experience, she has served, among other things, as Director of Social Affairs at the Lima Bar Association. In 2021, she was elected First Vice President of the Republic of Peru alongside Pedro Castillo and later took over as Minister of Development and Social Inclusion. On December 7, 2022, she was sworn in as President of the Republic in accordance with the Peruvian Constitution, making her the first woman to hold this high state office in Peru.

During her visit to Stuttgart, the conversation focused on President Boluarte, Mayor Dr. Nopper and city director Andrea Klett-Eininger discussed various topics, including economic and technological exchange. Both large industrial companies and small and medium-sized companies were the focus of the discussion. The Peruvian delegation also showed great interest in Stuttgart as a university and research location, and the wish for increased cooperation in this area was expressed.

Another topic of discussion was public administration and the fight against corruption. Mayor Dr. Nopper explained to President Boluarte the German system of dual training and dual study, which he sees as crucial for the economic success and stability of Germany and the region. Other topics discussed included transport, mobility and health.

President Boluarte's visit to Stuttgart and her discussions with the German hosts demonstrate the efforts of both countries to deepen their relations and cooperate in various areas. It will be exciting to see how this partnership develops in the future.
