What's going on there?
The new season is just around the corner. Teams are preparing or not. Goals are formulated or not. There may or may not be changes.
The fact is: it starts again!
September 1st: secure your place
But first I would like to go back a bit. At the time.
There is the new distribution of television rights. When SKY started broadcasting handball a few years ago, there were many negative voices. Which still exists today. Now the rights have been given to a new company. And again there is a negative mood. What could that mean now?
The strongest league in the world needs more money to bring the so-called superstars to Germany. Because that's what the audience wants to see. Or not. To stick with it. Personally, I have never spent money to watch handball games on TV. I go to the local club, gladly give 3, 5 or 10 euros for entry and cheer with the boys and girls from the area. The guys or girls give me back the entry fee by showing a great game or not. That's exactly how it works in the strongest league in the world. The difference: if I spend my money on the strongest league in the world, then I'm sponsoring, among other things, a so-called expert, a gossip who ruins the game for me... To name just two examples.
But if I go to the sports hall around the corner, then I don't just support handball in this club, I support the people. I notice these. I'm rooting for them. I'm sad for them. I'm happy with them too.
And that is exactly what handball is all about. Team spirit !
The Füchse Berlin board also demonstrated team spirit. The president of the third party last season actually announced his resignation.
...to join the 16th Bundesliga.
What I didn't expect is that the Berlin football fans didn't want handball at all. Why not?
“Football is a betrayal of handball” for him
Yes, handball players also play football. For warming. But at least they were smart enough to take the ball from their feet to their hands.
And now it comes:
The Füchse, known for the best youth development in Germany, known for their power, known for their team spirit..., are refusing to resign after losing the presidential election at Hertha.
“Football is a betrayal of handball” for you
Now the club has to live with being led by someone you can't rely on. Who will be gone the next time he has the opportunity to make a name for himself. A person who betrayed the sport of handball.
And then there is the ex-double champion. No, this is not about betrayal. These people do a lot for the sport of handball and we should be grateful to them for that. But there is something new. The Five Year Plan.
Yes, really. For East Germans, that sounds a bit piquant. It should be the future for the lions.
But from the beginning please.
10th place last season. Far below plan. New coach, new plan. For five years. That means: in five years we will be champions again and then crash again. Good plan. Bad plan.
It should also be mentioned that there is no plan/goal for the new season.
Sorry, but now I'm confused.
I have no goal.
I have a five-year goal.
I have no goal.
This will definitely be fun. Let's see what will happen on the Rhine and Neckar in the next ten years. The voltage increases.
The voltage increases. It starts on the first of September!
Because...
